Grinner Concept
Here is a Grinner in the Profondo Rosso style of painting with a kind of skinny suit. I'll have a look for wardrobe references and if anyone has any suggestions for something different get 'em posted!
'Profondo Rosso'
I was watching the mad mad film which is 'Profondo Rosso' last night and thought this scene was good inspiration for the use of frames which hold mirrors and paintings and how the two can be confused.
The story is that the guy witnessed a murder and thought he saw was something of importance in a painting which later disappeared. It turns out that what he saw was a mirror with the reflection of the murderer stood against a painting. Sorry I should have called 'spoiler alert' by now - hah.
Also I quite like the faces as Grinner inspiration - although they ain't doing much grinning.

Grinner Concept
I'm still working on the more advanced warping using geometry tracking but here is a little warping demo where I've grown the characters eyes for a bit of fun!

Grinner VFX Concept
I haven't managed to get a test of the warping I plan to use for the Grinners yet but here are two videos that demonstrate the techniques I'll be employing.

Keep Grinning!
More reference pictures for the Grinners - that's a fun google search! Teeth/tooth creatures - tooth fairies - creepy teeth - teeth/tooth horrors!
Just exploring different options - I can totally see, which direction you're thinking of but maybe there are some interesting bits in other approaches that could be integrated or feed new thoughts.
The Mouth of Sauron and Creepy Clowns - how large and gritty could the teeth be?
Just putting it out there - more animal like than human - or a cross of the two?
If you got prominent teeth - do you still need the eyes?
only another mask
30 Days of Night - human but sharp!
Do we need lips? Is any of them ever speaking? or if they're sort of melting into the face.
Just putting it out there - more animal like than human - or a cross of the two?
I adore how they're mixing humans/animals in "Spirited Away" :]
Is one row of teeth really enough? - I would think so!
If you got prominent teeth - do you still need the eyes?
only another mask
